How many hostels & backpackers does Starworks rank in Australia?

How does Starworks rank hostels & backpackers nationally?
To rank hostels & backpackers across Australia, Starworks combines each business's Google star rating, its review volume, and whether customers can reach it by website and phone. Volume is weighted because it shows how much evidence stands behind a rating, so a 4.9-star hostel with 200 reviews ranks above a 5-star one with 5 reviews. Placement cannot be bought. For scale, the median rating across the 190 hostels & backpackers in Australia is 4.1 stars from a median of 142 reviews.
Where can I find the best hostels & backpackers in my city?
Starworks publishes a separate ranking for hostels & backpackers in every Australian city and suburb it holds enough data for, each built from that place's own Google review record rather than from this national list. Browse by city below.
Why does my hostel business not appear in these national rankings?
Starworks ranks public Google Maps data, so a business needs a Google profile in the hostel category carrying at least one review and a rating to be eligible. This national ranking of hostels & backpackers in Australia lists the top 50 of 190 hostels & backpackers; a business ranked outside them appears on its own city page wherever Starworks holds enough data for that city.
